Variations on a Theme by Schubert (1956) by Helmut Lachenmann
Serynade (1998) by Helmut Lachenmann
Stephanie has always been drawn to unusual sounds. When her first piano was delivered to her house, instead of playing on the keys, she had her brother push down the damper pedal while she stood on the bench and strummed the strings. This pursuit of extra-ordinary sounds has lead Stephanie on the life journey of a contemporary musician.
Stephanie’s parents would say that she has always been stubborn and enjoyed setting unusual challenges for herself. They would reference the time when 6-year old Stephanie decided to eat her ice cream from the cone up.
It is both the unusual and challenging that speaks to Stephanie and has kept her intrigued, persevering, and continuously exploring.
